WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College lost a 76-65 decision to Gallaudet University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 3-11, 1-6 NEAC, while the Bison improved to 5-10, 3-4.
How it Happened: Following a back-and-forth opening six minutes of the game, Gallaudet separated from a 13-12 lead with an 8-1 run to end the quarter ahead 21-13. Penn College got as close as three, 32-29, on a
Cassi Kuhns layup with 55 seconds on the clock, while the Bison led 35-29 at halftime.
Gallaudet held a double-digit advantage for the majority of the second half.
Inside the Box:
Ja'Quela Dyer scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed a game-best 19 rebounds for Penn College.
Madison Klock and
Lydia Albert both finished with 11 points for the Wildcats.
Kendall Hudson and Rajena Guettler led five Gallaudet players that reached double figures with 16 points each.
Outside the Box: "We shot better in our game today, but we didn't give ourselves more opportunities to get the shots," Penn College coach
Britni Mohney said. "
Ja'Quela Dyer really stepped up for us today and had a huge day dominating the boards. When the defense starts to double down on the inside, we have to the confidence to score the outside shots. Repetition is going to be key to future success."
