What is your favorite part about being a coach?
That each day I get to wake up and mentor young women. That I get to be a positive and encouraging role model to provide them the confidence they need to realize there is no limit to what they can achieve. And when your mentorship has stuck with them, when they finally get it on their own and you see them growing, succeeding, and flourishing as strong independent women; that is the greatest gift of being a coach.
What is your favorite moment in your Penn College coaching career?
Just two days after rupturing my right Achilles Tendon, we had our first games and tournament of our 2019-2020 season at Susquehanna University. Coaching on crutches and a wrapped up leg, we won our first game of the 2019-2020 season in our second game of the tournament. My first win as a part of the Penn College Program, and most importantly; the first win as a new program. I saw confidence rise in their spirits, I saw hunger and competitiveness in their eyes, I saw the joy in the embraces when the buzzer sounded, and I saw a family form.
Best advice for current or future Wildcats?
Enjoy every part of your journey. Through the trials, tribulations, and triumphs you are going to learn more about yourself in your time here then you ever thought you would; dare to be vulnerable. And along this journey of self discovery your teammates and coaches are going to become family; and this family is going to be with you for a lifetime. These memories, beyond the wins and losses, is what the student-athlete experience is about. You will always have a family beyond the walls of Penn College.
