KEUKA, N.Y. – Penn College fell 95-88 to Keuka College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Friday. The Wildcats fell to 7-17 overall, 5-10 NEAC, while the Wolves improved to 6-16, 5-10.
How it Happened: The first half saw the scored tied on seven different occasions, with the final coming when
Brody Baker's layup with 2:16 left in the quarter evened the game at 37. Keuka finished the half with a 9-4 run to lead 46-41 at halftime.
The Wildcats opened the second half with an 8-0 run, and took a 49-46 lead on Baker's jumper with 18:40 on the clock. The Wolves answered with its own 8-0 run to take the lead for good.
Inside the Box:
Elijah Vazquez led Penn College with 18 points, while
Ben Sosa picked up his sixth double-double this season with 12 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. Baker and
Carson Garvis both finished with 12 points and
Ryan Lockman added 11.
James Barnes netted a game-high 33 points for Keuka.
Outside the Box: "We played a good game overall. Our team shot the ball well, took care of the ball well, and rebounded well," Penn College coach
Geoff Hensley said. "I thought our energy was good and we battled. I'm very proud of this group for competing in a tough environment. We can shoot better from the free throw line, and if a call or two goes the other way, the outcome would be different.
"We have a quick turnaround with a dangerous Wells team tomorrow. We will learn from this setback, to put ourselves up for a big comeback. Our eyes are always on the horizon."
