WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference is growing its sponsorship of men's wrestling with the addition of Pennsylvania College of Technology as an affiliate member, effective with the 2023-24 season.
The Wildcats join full-time member institutions from Alfred State College, Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Behrend, and fellow affiliate member Hiram College.
"I am grateful for the AMCC and its members for providing our program and our student-athletes the opportunity for affiliate membership," said Penn College wrestling coach Pankil Chander. "This move positions us with programs that have similar histories, and we're excited to compete among this field at the conference championship."
The conference will add a sixth member to the men's wrestling family when Penn State Altoona's new program is up and running in 2024-25.
"The AMCC is always looking for new ways to enhance competitive opportunities for our student-athletes," stated Commissioner Donna Ledwin. "Between the addition of Penn College this season and Penn State Altoona next, we are continuing to strengthen the experience in-league and pave the way for regional and national success."
Penn College was most recently a member of the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference, which was absorbed by the SUNYAC Conference.
"We felt that the AMCC was the best fit for our program and our institution," said Penn College Director of Athletics Scott Kennell. "It allows us to compete against teams primarily from Pennsylvania and against institutions that most closely resemble Penn College."
The AMCC men's wrestling championship tournament will take place on February 10, 2024 at Alfred State.
