Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College belted four home runs – including a walk-off in game one – in a United East sweep over St. Mary's Monday. The Wildcats won game one, 8-7, and took the nightcap, 13-7, and improved to 7-1 UE, 12-9 overall.
In game one,
Deadlocked at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh,
Tyler Rudolph launched a solo home run to leftfield to help the Wildcats walk-off with the win.
St. Mary's rallied from a 7-5 deficit with a run in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game.
The Seahawks took an early 2-0 lead with two in the second before Penn College exploded with six runs in the bottom of the frame.
Jake Wagner hit a two-run single,
Shane Price roped a two-run double to left and
Jacob Carles and
Nathan Gustkey brought in a run with singles. St. Mary's added a run in the fourth before Gustkey's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth kept PCT ahead, 7-4.
Keegan Nytz improved to 2-0 after one inning in relief. He allowed one run, on two hits, with two strikeouts.
Justin Porter fired the first five innings, allowing three earned, on five hits, with seven strikeouts, and two walks.
In game two,
The Seahawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the top of the third inning before
Quinn Hanafin put the Wildcats on the board with a two-run homer. After St. Mary's added a run in the fourth,
Cameron Dick started a seven-run rally in the bottom of the frame with a two-run shot. Carles, Gustkey, and
Brian Robison each brought in a run in the inning and Rudolph smacked a two-run double to give the Wildcats the lead for good, 9-7.
Rudolph hit his second solo shot of the day in the seventh and Dick and
Anthony Barbella brought in runs in the eighth.
Dick finished with four hits, Carles, Rudolph and Robison picked up three, while Gustkey and Price picked up a pair.
Zac Weaver fired five innings in relief and improved to 4-0. He allowed two earned, on three hits, with two strikeouts, and zero walks.
