LATHAM, N.Y. – Penn College had four softball players named to the United East all-conference team, it was announced Wednesday. Senior
Maddie Hurst (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and sophomore
Mackenzie Weaver (Williamsport, Pa.) were named to the first team, while senior
Jordan Specht (Frederick, Md.) and junior
Ivvy Morder (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) landed on the second team.
Weaver was also named Pitcher of the Year.
Weaver earned her second consecutive first team selection, and first pitcher of the year honors, after going 14-6 and boasting a .97 ERA. She fired 18 complete games, picked up a pair of saves, was named pitcher of the week four times, and tossed a perfect game and a no-hitter.
Hurst, who was a second team selection last year, finished fifth in the conference with a .458 batting average and was first in stolen bases with 43 swipes and second with five triples. The shortstop totaled 54 hits, including 15 doubles, scored 45 runs, and had .944 fielding percentage on 79 assists.
Morder landed on the second team for the third straight year after finishing the season with a .341 batting average and 22 RBI. Morder smacked 14 extra-base hits, including a pair of homers. The catcher caught one perfect game and a no-hitter.
Specht, who was a first team selection in 2021, finished in the top five of most major offensive categories. She was first in hits (58) and RBI (39), second in doubles (17), third in batting average (.468), and fourth in home runs (8).
