Penn College Women's Tennis Win Opener

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Penn College's women's tennis team opened its season with a 6-3 win over Susquehanna University on Wednesday. The Wildcats now are 1-0 and Susquehanna is 0-1.

How it happened: Penn College won two of three doubles matches and captured four of six singles matches.

Inside the box: At No. 1 doubles, Ellen Buckley and Lauren Peck scored an 8-7 win, and at No. 2 doubles, Faith Murray and Georgia Macensky posted an 8-3 triumph. In singles, Peck won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-0; Murray won at No. 3, 6-2, 6-2; Macensky fought back from a 3-6 first-set loss for a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4; and Jordan Specht, playing at No. 5 in her first collegiate match, won, 6-4, 6-2.

Up next: Penn College is at Lycoming College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
