Penn College Draws Moravian Regional in NCAA Division III Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Penn College will open the 2024 NCAA Division III Softball Championship at the Moravian Regional, it was announced during Monday's Selection Show. The Wildcats (30-10) will take on the host Greyhounds (30-8), 12 p.m., Thursday in Bethlehem, Pa.

The second contest of the first round will feature Roanoke (30-14) battling Muskingum (28-13) at 2:30 p.m.in the four-team double-elimination pod. The team advancing from each of the 15 regional sites will compete in the super regional round May 23 and 24. The finals, hosted by East Texas Baptist University, will be held May 30 -June 5 at Bell Park at Taylor Field in Marshall.

The winners of Thursday's first games will face each other at 11 a.m. Friday, while Thursday's losers will play an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. A second elimination game will be held at 4 p.m. Friday with the regional championship being played at 11 a.m. Saturday and an if-necessary contest at 1:30 p.m.

Penn College reached the tournament for the second time in program history as an automatic qualifier by winning its United East Championship. Moravian won its second-straight, and 11th overall, Landmark title against Lycoming College to earn its conference's automatic qualifier.

Roanoke (Va.) earned an at-large bid after a runner-up finish in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament and is making its third-straight appearance, and 11th overall, in the NCAA Tournament. Muskingum (Ohio) also earned an at-large bid after going 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
