NORMAN, Okla. -- Penn College golfer
Peyton Mussina earned a selection to the PING/GCAA Region 3 All-Region Team, the organization announced on Thursday. The 2024 United East Individual Medalist and Golfer of the Year is the first golfer to earn all-region honors for Penn College and the first for the conference since Sean Sigall from Rutgers-Camden in 2019-20.
Mussina was one of 15 all-region selections representing Region 3 as he led the team to three tournament titles including its second-straight United East Championship banner this spring and five other top-five finishes. The junior shot a two-round 149 to win the United East Championship by five strokes and won three other events during the 2023-24 campaign as he topped the field in the Mountain Valley Classic, United East Fall Preview and Drew Birdie Bash.
Mussina also carded four runner-up finishes at the Elizabethtown Classic, Swarthmore's Northeast Shootout and Penn College's Northeast Elite tournament where he finished just one shot behind fellow All-Region selection Shane Lawler from Franklin & Marshall and ahead of three other All-Region selections. He fell one shot behind All-Region selection Charlie Doan from McDaniel while besting eight other All-Region honorees to earn runner-up status at the Gettysburg Spring Shootout.Â
