PENFIELD, N.Y. — Penn College was positioned 38th in a 43-team field after Tuesday's first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. Individually, Wildcat Peyton Mussina shot an even-par 72 and was tied for 10th among 225.
How it happened: Penn College scored a 317 during afternoon action on Midvale Country Club's 6,632-yard course.
Inside the box: Mussina recorded a 35 on the front nine and a 37 on the back for his 72. Also for the Wildcats, Logan Gawlinski shot a 79 and was tied for 135th, Brady Handy and Will Orwig both scored 83 and were tied for 194th, and Gunner Redmond shot an 84 and was tied for 201st. Only the low four scores count toward the team total.
The field: Illinois Wesleyan led the team race with a 290, while individually, Edward Coffren of Lynchburg and Will Karkoc of Bethel, Minnesota, both shot 68s.
