WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Led by Gunner Redmond's second-place individual finish, Penn College opened its spring golf season over the weekend by tying for sixth in an 11-team field at The Ruckus hosted by Drew University at Williamsburg National Golf Club.
How it happened: Individually tied for seventh after shooting a 73 during Saturday's first round on the par 72, 6,953-yard Jamestown Course, Redmond trimmed that score by five strokes on Sunday, going four-under-par with a 68 and just missing tying for medalist honors in the 69-player field by one shot. In team competition, after recording a 314 during Saturday's opening round, the Wildcats rebounded with a 307 on Sunday for a 621 total that tied them with St. Vincent College.

The field: Drew, with medalist Elliot Parker shooting 74-66—140, took top honors with a 582 (+6) total. Following were Salisbury 289-299—588 (+12), McDaniel 300-289—589 (+13), Stevens Institute 301-293—594 (+18), Hartford 301-311—612 (+36), Penn College and St. Vincent 313-308—621 (+45), Nazareth 316-309—625 (+49), Stevens B 316-312—628 (+52), Ursinus 345-322—667 (+91), and Nazareth B 342-341—683 (+107).
