WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College fell to Lancaster Bible in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's and women's tennis match Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 6-3 in the men's match and 8-1 in the women's contest. The men dropped to 0-2 NEAC, 0-7 overall, while the women fell to 0-2, 0-9.
In the men's match,
Blake Whitmire knocked off Ming Boweser in a competitive No. 1 singles match. Whitmire won the first set 7-6 (7-3), and took the second set 6-2.
Ben Morton went to a superset in No. 5 singles after winning the first set 6-4, he was defeated 6-1, 12-10 in the next two sets.
Whitmire teamed with
Nicholas Pascual in No. 1 doubles to earn an 8-2 win and
Ethan Rosler and
Andrew Francisco won No. 2 doubles 8-3.
In the women's match,
Jane Herman picked up her second victory in as many days to earn Penn College's lone win. She defeated Brianne Smith, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 3 singles. Emily Bell forced a tiebreaker in the second set of No. 6 singles, dropping a 6-3, 7-6 (9-2) decision.
Penn College returns to action Friday at Penn State Abington.
