Penn College Falls to St. Mary's

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College men's and women's tennis teams dropped both of their United East matches against St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday, the men by a 9-0 score and the women, 8-1. The Penn College men now are 0-2 in the conference and 5-4 overall while the St. Mary's men are 1-0, 8-3. The Penn College women are 0-2 in the UE and 1-9 overall while St. Mary's is 1-0, 4-7.

How it happened: The St. Mary's men won all six singles and three doubles matches, while its women took five of six singles matches along with all three in doubles.

Inside the box: Alexis Youse was the lone Penn College victor, picking up her win in the No. 5 women's singles position, 1-6, 6-4, 11-9 tiebreaker. The most competitive men's matches for the Wildcats came at No. 1 singles, where Tucker Phillippe-Johansson fell, 4-6, 6-7, and at No. 2 singles, where Paul Langbein lost, 4-6, 6-2, 6-10 tiebreaker.

Up next: Penn College hosts Penn State Berks in a UE match at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Central PA Tennis Center.
