Penn College takes two at Clarks Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. — Penn College tennis teams both opened their spring seasons with nonconference victories on Saturday at Clarks Summit University, the men by an 8-1 score and the women by 6-3. Including their fall matches, the Penn College men now are 2-1 and its women 1-3. Both Clarks Summit teams are 0-1.

How it happened: For the men, Penn College captured five singles and all three doubles matches, while the Wildcat women took four singles and two doubles events.

Inside the box: Winning both their singles and doubles matches for the men's squad were Paul Langbein at No. 1 singles, Kyle Shuler at No. 2 singles, Jesse Kight at No. 3 singles, Logan Ogden at No. 5 singles and Grayson Tanner at No. 6 singles and Langbein/Shuler at No. 1 doubles, Kight at No. 2 doubles and Ogden/Tanner at No. 3 doubles.

Double winners for the Penn College women were Ellen Buckley at No. 1 singles, Lauren Peck at No. 2 singles, Emma Fox at No. 5 singles and CiCi Miller at No. 6 singles and Buckley/Peck at No. 1 doubles and Fox/Miller at No. 3 doubles.

Up next: Penn College hosts Juniata College in nonconference action at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Central PA Tennis Club.
