WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Snapping a 10 game losing streak, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team defeated Alfred State College 95-74 Wednesday night. The 95 points is a season high for the Wildcats. Freshman Thomas Ross (Williamsport) led all scorers with 16 points going 4 for 7 (.571) from beyond the arc. Junior James Boylan (Newton, N.J.) added 14 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Penn College was hot with its shooting going 34 for 68 (.500) with every player contributing to the total. With the win, the Wildcats now improve to 2-17 overall.

After Alfred (2-18) opened the game with a bucket, the Wildcats hit back-to-back baskets to take the early lead. Ross led a 9-0 run contributing six points to give Penn College a 20-10 lead in the 14th.

Ross was also strong with the passing notching six assists. He scored all 16 points in the first half.

Penn College controlled the game for rest of the half with freshman Laquinn Thompson (York) hitting two free throws in the final minute to give the team its highest lead of the half at 47-30. Sophomore Nathaniel Brown (Philadelphia) closed out the half with a jumper to go into the break up 50-34.

Brown finished the game with 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Wildcats put the game in cruise control in the second half outscoring Alfred 45-40. Freshman Marquis Delgado (Mansfield) hit a jumper and two free throws in the beginning of the half to make it a 55-37 game. He finished the night with 10 points going 4 for 6 (.667) from the field.

Penn College's highest lead of the game came at 3:44 when freshman Robert Beckett (Belfast, N.Y.) hit a layup to make it 92-65. The Pioneers put up a fight ending the game on a 9-0 run.

As a team, the Wildcats out-rebounded Alfred 53-35.

Penn College next hosts Penn State Scranton on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m.
