WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Weekend action saw the Penn College men's tennis team compete in the King's College Fall Invitational.
How it happened: Three players reached the semifinals in the individual tournament Saturday and Sunday.
Inside the box: In Saturday's play, Alex Norris, at No. 2 singles; Paul Langbein, at No. 3 singles, and the No. 2 doubles team of Norris and Jesse Kight went 2-0 in their matches to advance. In other Saturday matches, Kight went 1-1 at No. 4 singles, reaching the quarterfinals; while Tucker Philippe-Johansson, at No. 1 singles; Tommy Cavanaugh, at No. 5 singles; Zack Burkhart, at No. 6 singles; and Johansson-Langbein at No. 1 doubles, all finished 0-1.
On Sunday, Norris and Kight were eliminated in the doubles semis, 8-0, before the rain came ending play.
Coach speak: "All of the men played their hearts out this weekend and there was some really great competitive tennis," coach Jessica Bower said.
Up next: Penn College hosts Lock Haven University on Friday.
