LATHAM, N.Y. -- Penn College's
Sara Darlington and
Ashley Gordon swept the United East Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the week honors, respectively, the league announced on Monday. The duo picked up their first career weekly awards after leading the Wildcats to a 2-0 week and extending the team's regular season unbeaten streak to 36 games.
Darlington (West Chester, Pa.) netted two hat-tricks and added a pair of assists. The senior forward finished with eight points on three goals and two assists in the Wildcats 12-1 victory at Keystone on Wednesday. She followed up with three more goals in a 4-0 victory against Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday to become the first Wildcat and just the third in the conference to reach 10 goals on the season.
Gordon (Pottstown, Pa.) anchored a back line that leads the conference with a .273 goals-against average as the sophomore defender and her squad allowed just five shots when she was on the field. In just 53 minutes of work against Keystone, Gordon's defensive line did not allow a shot. Gordon also added two assists in the Wildcats' 4-0 victory against Notre Dame and led the defense to its eighth shutout of the season.
